Lake District baby brand partners with Cumbrian Herwick Tweed

dLake District based KahuBaby are launching their exclusive Herdwick Tweed baby carrier range later this month. Their Herdwick baby carriers follow a successful partnership and design collaboration project with well known Herdwick wool business, Cable & Blake

Carissa Lough lives in Kendal and designed the KahuBaby Carrier in autumn 2018. After 4 years of working with parents and babies, her passion for carrying her own children led her to develop a unique baby carrier with a simple adjustment system. ‘”I‘ve now combined my love for the outdoors and my passion for bonding with our children. KahuBaby is part of my dream for a calmer world; where we all slow down to connect with each other and to breathe in our surroundings. It is just all about Simple Togetherness. Much of my life has been spent in the outdoors, either rock climbing, surfing or exploring. When I had my own babies, I knew that I wanted to show them the world outside of the hustle and bustle of modern life. I also needed a way to comfort them, keep them close and have my hands-free!”

Carissa met Rachel Cabble, owner of Cable and Blake, at last year’s Westmorland County Show. “After seeing the beautiful Herwick Tweed fabrics and talking with Rachel, I saw how we could combine these two amazing products to create something very special.” Rachel adds that “we’re both committed to offering products that reduce our carbon footprints, using materials that are as local as possible.”

The Herdwick Tweed baby carriers combine this natural fabric of the lakes with 100% certified organic cotton. It’s an example of two Lake District businesses collaborating to showcase the best of Cumbrian entrepreneurship.

The new collection of KahuBaby Herwick Tweed Carriers are at www.kahubaby.com from 28th February 2020.
